History

Camp Langston was founded in 1951. At one time it was only a little boy’s wish and a grandfather’s promise. Known as Daddy Jack, Jack Langston Sr. was born on the Langston Ranch in 1889. He loved ranching, camping and was fond of children. He organized the Northeast Texas Wildlife Association, and was instrumental in bringing native wildlife back into the Northeast Texas area.

Later on through his efforts, along with his wife known as Mama Jack, Camp Langston became a reality. Jack Langston Jr. for many years operated the Jack Langston MFG. Company based in Dallas. Although responsible for the business his true passion was camp and the outdoors. His wife Edythe, known by all as Edy was responsible for the operation and fine-tuning of camp for many decades. She was and always will be the most instrumental person in the history of Camp Langston.

Jack and Edy had two children, Michael and Melody. It was Daddy Jack’s promise to Michael, which ultimately led to the creation Camp Langston. Although Michael Langston passed on at an early age, Camp Langston continued on in his memory. Today camp continues through the hard work of Jack and Edy’s daughter, Melody and her husband Phil. Along with the efforts of their children Michael, Courtney and Cody there’s no end in sight. It’s a legacy that has become a passion. As the Langston / Paul family continues to grow with the birth of Michael and wife Crystal’s two boys Landon and Lane we hope that future generations will continue to make Camp Langston a very personal and positive part of their lives. We thank you for a lifetime full of memories.

Sincerely, Camp Langston and family
